Harbour Point Residential Roofing Project
This award-winning project took place at the home of Russell Morris, located on Lake Lanier in Georgia. Two years ago, the home, as well as most of the other homes in the neighborhood, were adorned with either pine shake or cedar shake. Elite Exteriors had something else in mind, however, and this unsuspecting lakefront private community was about to receive massive upgrades and an amazing transformation!
Before any work could be done on the home, Elite Exteriors first had to get approval from the Homeowners Association. We presented the HOA with DaVinci’s Select Shake, and quickly won them over. But this wasn’t your standard roof replacement, as we not only needed approval from the HOA, but also unanimous approval from each individual homeowner in the Harbour Point neighborhood. Carlton Kohler, the owner of Elite Exteriors states, “There had to be a unanimous decision in order to change the covenants to allow DaVinci synthetic shake to be installed in the community.”
The Transformation Begins
This prize-winning project began about a year ago when the homeowner, Russell Morris, contacted Elite Exteriors wanting to repair his shake roof. After inspecting the existing roof, it quickly became apparent that the roof did not have much life left in it, and that the roof would have to be replaced. Morris was initially disappointed with this news, as many homeowners with shake roofs would be, as the roof had finally aged to a color that he truly loved on his home. Even so, Morris was tired of maintaining his shake roof, as this can be both costly, and time consuming.
Before consulting with Elite Exteriors, Morris had his mind set on an asphalt roof, as this was a low-maintenance option that had approval from the HOA. Even though this may not have been necessarily what the homeowner was wanting, it appeared to be the best option available that could meet his wants and needs. Luckily, Kohler was able to find a solution here that would make both the homeowner, and the HOA, happy. He presented them with DaVinci’s Select Shake roofing product, the most authentic looking shake alternative available, with the durability and style the homeowner was looking for.
After Elite Exteriors got the approval they needed, the transformation was underway! And the neighborhood saw so much value in switching to synthetic shake. Cedar and pine shake is known for splitting and curling, and the shakes can easily become damaged, especially during a storm. This area in particular is prone to storms, and DaVinci Select Shake can withstand high winds and severe weather, as they are Class 4 impact tiles. Aside from the obvious benefits, homeowners will also have lower insurance premiums, as well. Russell Morris was very pleased with his decision to install DaVinci roof tiles, and it came at the perfect time. He had a 19-year-old pine shake roof that sustained hail damage in June of 2020. Because of this, Morris was left with shakes in poor condition and roof with minor leaks. They showed them why and how the roof had to be replaced. Overall, the team was very professional, considerate and highly efficient.”
Within a matter of weeks, Morris’ home was adorned with a gorgeous DaVinci Aged Cedar colored roof. Since his installation, other homeowners have followed suit, improving the curb appeal of the neighborhood as a whole. Aside from the aesthetic appeal and wonderful benefits of switching to DaVinci, Morris also states that his new roof has increased the overall value of his home by 10%!
